If you’ve been keeping an eye on our blooming Cash for Clunkers legislation here in the United States, you probably already know countries throughout Europe have had similar programs on the books for years now. The Huffington Post has an interesting article detailing exactly what each country has to offer its citizens in terms of scrap programs. Complete with a handy chart detailing existing and proposed legislation from countries like Austria, Slovakia and Italy, the piece makes it clear there is no standard age for cars eligible or amount of credit issued for those vehicles among the countries on the list.
Still, there is a trend. In general, the cars have to be at least 10-15 years old, and the credits range from $880 in Cyprus to a $13,000 loan at zero percent interest in Spain. The article also points out countries like Japan and Canada are mulling their own versions of the Cash for Clunker model. You can see the original article here. [Source: HuffingtonPost]
