AirCheck Texas Removes Clunkers from Texas Roads
AirCheck Texas just announced new guidelines to their Texas cash for clunkers program.

On September 1, 2013, the AirCheckTexas Drive a Clean Machine program will have changes to the eligibility requirements for ALL replacement vehicles.
Effective September 1, 2013, eligible vehicles are:
- Model year 2014-2011 cars, SUVs, and vans;
Model year 2014-2012 pickup trucks; and
Model year 2014-2011 hybrid, electric, natural gas and all vehicles that have been certified to meet federal Tier 2, Bin 3 or cleaner Bin certification vehicles.
- Model year 2010 cars, SUVs and vans and 2011 trucks will be removed from the eligibility lists and will no longer be eligible for purchase under the DACM program after August 31, 2013. All vehicles sold on or after September 1 must meet new eligibility criteria, regardless of the voucher’s date of issue or expiration, or status of ongoing sales negotiations with the dealer.
Your vehicle must be registered in one of these participating counties.

Your vehicle must meet these conditions:
- Failed an emissions test,
Registered in your participating county area for at least 12 of the 15 months preceding your application, and
Passed a Texas motor-vehicle safety and emissions inspection within 15 months of your application and driven under its own power to the automobile dealership.
OR
- At least 10 year old and gasoline powered,
Driven under its own power to the automobile dealership,
Registered in your participating county area for at least 12 of the 15 months preceding your application, and
Passed a DPS motor-vehicle safety inspection (if more than 24 years old) or safety and emissions inspection (if 24 years old less) within 15 months of application.
If you meet the above requirements, the following vehicle-replacement assistance may be provided:
Reimbursement cannot be made directly to vehicle owners or after a vehicle has already been purchased.
- $3,000 for a car, current model year or up to three model years old
- $3,000 for a truck, current model year or up to two model years old
- $3,500 for a hybrid vehicle, electric or natural gas vehicle, current model year or up to three model years old
The vehicle you purchase must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a federal Tier 2 Bin 5 vehicle
- have an odometer reading of not more than 70,000 miles, and
- cannot cost more than
- $35,000, before tax, title, and license, or
- $45,000 for a hybrid vehicle, electric, vehicle, natural gas vehicle or a vehicle certified to meet or exceed federal Tier 2, Bin 3 or cleaner certification of current or up to three model years old; before tax, title and license.
